The "Awesome Antlers Collection" of Odie Sudbeck will be part of the 2002 National Hunting and Fishing Days Celebration, to be held at Stonewall Jackson Lake State Park near Weston, West Virginia, Saturday and Sunday, September 28 and 29.

This year's annual "Flying Trout Stock" will take place on Tuesday, October 22, beginning at noon at the Summersville Dam. It is expected to take more than 28 flights to release the more than a ton (2,550 pounds) of fish.

SUMMERSVILLE, WV - West Virginia Professional River Outfitters Association (WVPRO)will stock more than 13,000 pounds of brook and rainbow trout in a remote four-mile section of the Gauley River next week, according to WVPRO President Doug Proctor. Over a five year period, WVPRO will have stocked trout costing more than $34,000.

The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources has announced the winners of the 2002 West Virginia Big Buck Contest, according to Gene Thorn, Chairman of the WV Big Buck Contest Review Committee. The contest is cosponsored by the Division of Natural Resources, the Izaak Walton League of West Virginia, and the West Virginia Bowhunter's Association to recognize sportsmen who bagged extraordinarily big antlered bucks in West Virginia.

Amphibian Cooperative Science Projects

Teachers of students in grades 1-12 are invited to participate in the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources Wildlife Diversity's Amphibian Cooperative Science Project, according to Curtis Taylor, Chief of the DNR Wildlife Resources Section. The project is a volunteer-based effort to learn more about where amphibians live and to gain some knowledge of the health of existing populations. Teachers may apply for the curriculum materials on a first-come, first-serve basis by calling Dawn Hale at 304/637-0245.
