Panther State Forest Campground Reopens Today

Panther State Forest in McDowell County reopens its campground today, according to Robert Beanblossom, district administrator for the Parks and Recreation Section of the Division of Natural Resources.
Panther's campgrounds were closed due to heavy damage cuased by the May 2, 2002 storms. All six rustic sites are available with electric, fireplaces and a picnic table. Pit toilets and a hand water pump are also nearby.Three picnic areas containing shelters in Boner Fields, Sandy Bottom and George's Fork, are also available to the public.
All other facilities will remain closed indefinitely.
