West Virginia State Wildlife Center Enjoys A Successful 80th Anniversary Celebration
Posted by: Holly Canfield on Wed, 23 July 2003 01:18:49 (2326 Reads)
Well over 800 visitors took part in the West Virginia State Wildlife Center’s 80th Anniversary celebration, held on June 20, 2003, according to Rob Silvester, Wildlife Center Biologist. The event included a free admission day and refreshments for visitors, a kids’ fishing derby at the trout pond and a reception for current and former employees of the Wildlife Center. “Everyone had a wonderful time. One of the most memorable experiences was listening to the stories and tales of former employees who worked at the Center,” said Silvester.
“Funding for the Wildlife Center is derived from admission fees, donations and miscellaneous revenues generated by the Wildlife Resources Section. Having this event was the Wildlife Resources Section’s way of saying ‘thank you’ to our generous patrons,” said Silvester.
For more information about the Wildlife Center, contact the West Virginia State Wildlife Center at P.O. Box 38, French Creek, WV 26218, phone: (304) 924-6211 or visit the DNR’s web page at www.dnr.state.wv.us.
