Posted by: Holly Canfield on Wed, 23 Jul 2003 01:45:02 (1364 reads)
The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources is interested in determining the status of barn owls in the state, according to Kieran O’Malley, wildlife biologist with DNR’s Wildlife Resources Section. Posted by: Allen Canfield on Sat, 10 Aug 2002 01:44:49 (815 reads)

along the eastern flyway that passes through Monroe County. This migration typically

osprey, peregrine falcon, northern harrier, goshawk, most eastern species of hawks,
other migrating songbirds and the first ever sighting in West Virginia of a
gyrfalcon. More than 5,000 hawks were counted in all for the 2,000 season, more than
3,500 of which were seen in September.
