West Virginia State Wildlife Center Celebrates 80th Anniversary June 20

"The Wildlife Center, formerly known as the French Creek Game Farm, is an intricate part of the state's wildlife conservation and education program," according to Rob Silvester, Wildlife Center Biologist. Located in Upshur County, the Wildlife Center was established in 1923 as a wildlife refuge to aid in the reestablishment of wildlife populations in the state. Its value as a tourist attraction was quickly realized as many visitors came to the Wildlife Center in its first years of operation. Since that time, more than four million visitors have walked the interpretative trail, exploring their natural world and learning more about the state's wildlife resources.
